Annagh Farm

Annagh Farm

In June 2019 we decided to expand and take on a second dairy platform consisting of 240 acres of grassland, an existing herd and an outdated parlour. This farm was to bring some new challenges as it was much wetter land than Fortchester and it was a spring and autumn calving herd.

The first major project we decided on was to build a new 24-unit Pearson milking parlour to replace the 6 unit that was there previously. This was to reduce milking time, improve cow flow and welfare. We also looked at roadways, fencing and water similar to the other farm as we thought they all needed to be updated to improve farm performance.

We are currently under stocked and milking 110 cows as we look to grow and improve the herd. Our aim is to milk 200 cows with majority spring calving and predominantly a grass-based system.
